Search For YetiWhile many claim to have seen the legendary yeti, far fewer claim to have heard it. Some might expect it to sound wild and feral, but others suggest that it may sound much more mysterious and beautiful. Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellingtonband ‘Search For Yeti’ are hedging their bets by covering allthese sonic bases, and more.
AllophonesThe Allophones, are an altrockfolkshoegazingslackerprog band from Dunedin, made up of Tane Cotton & The Connolly Siblings. The trio are all multi-instrumentalists, and this is reflected in the music too, as all members of the band write songs and arrange them in a democratic fashion (by voting), hence the made up genre tag.
Crab TheoryCrab Theory is the rarest of pop phenomena: superstars who managed to completely cross over from rock to alternative rock, becoming enduring pop culture icons to themselves and conquering the room they practice in in the process. Crab Theory shed their djent roots like they were a second skin, revealing that they were perhaps the un-savviest un-populist band of their generation, ones who could harness the zeitgeist, make it personal and, just as impressively, perform the reverse.
Day MoonHave you ever noticed the mid-afternoon moon and thought “what’s that doing there?! It’s the middle of the day!”? Well, Day Moon made peace with that astrological paradox and decided to spread their newfound good vibes to you. A caravan of seven musicians, including four vocalists harmonising to spaced out tunes, it’s the new indie rock you love, but with a wholesome, down to earth twist. Under moonlight, sunlight, or both, Day Moon will be the sonic handrail always by your side.
Bleeding StarBleeding Star is Jude Savage (guitar and vocals), Carlos Bellamy (bass and vocals), Kindekel Banda-Moyes (drums), and Otis Hill (guitar). Inspired by the long marriage of melody and noise, they deliver a set of carefully considered cuts that are disarmingly raw and intuitively crafted.
